CHICAGO, Ill. -- On Wednesday night, North Park tennis faced off against conference rival Carroll University.  Coming off a strong win against Calvin University, and a three-match winning streak, the Vikings were confident they could keep the momentum going into the conference schedule.

The Pioneers, who North Park has not earned a win against since joining the CCIW, came out strong in the doubles competitions. After the three matches, Carroll was in the driver's seat with a 2-1 advantage. North Park's #2 doubles of Hanna Zethreus and Marie Fuehrer, undefeated so far this season, kept up their winning streak winning 8-3 against the Pioneers.

It was in singles that North Park turned it around.  Led by #1 singles player Teodora Kraljevic, the Vikings won the first set in 5 of the 6 singles matchups.  While #2 singles player Carla Cazes was the only Viking to lose her first set against Carroll, she came back to win the longest match of the day in three complete sets. #5 singles Nina Kisin also won three sets, but finally lost in the third complete set.  #6 Maddie Starr clinched the decisive win for the Vikings, giving the team win to North Park.

This win marks four-in-a-row for North Park, setting a new program record under Coach Karl Clifton-Soderstrom's watch. This includes a win over Calvin, who North Park had not beaten in over two decades.

What's Next?

In their next matchup, the Vikings take a four-match winning streak to Elmhurst University on Thursday, September 22.
