CHICAGO, Ill. -- The Vikings men's soccer team mowed down Washington University on Wednesday by a score of 3-0, with freshman Love Brandt making his mark on all three North Park goals.
After a slow start to Wednesday's game, the Vikings broke open the scoreless tie late into the 1st half. A corner kick from Angel Barriga was sent into the box where only Love Brandt could connect. That represented the first goal of the young Brandt's NPU career, which he'd soon follow up with yet another.Â
Brandt would secure the brace seven minutes later. North Park built up an attack through William De Carro and Willy Wickman that the Washington defense snuffed out in the box. However, the ricochet wound right at the foot of Brandt who sent a laser into the bottom left corner. The 1st half close out shortly thereafter with the Vikings up 2-0.Â
Brandt again came through on the Vikings attack with seconds to go in the 80th minute, though this time as a play-maker in setting up Angel Barriga. Barriga took the ball from just outside the box and made a quick cut before sending it into the back right of the net.
The North Park victory, which had already seemed to be set in stone, was assured by the 3-0 lead with just under ten minutes remaining. The Viking defense too deserves credit for limiting WashU to 4 shots on goal, all of which were saved by GK Alfred Sward.Â

North Park next takes the pitch against Knox College, who they'll play at home on Saturday, September 17, at 5:00 P.M.
