CHICAGO, Ill. – In one of the more unique games one can watch on the pitch, the North Park men's soccer team overcame a two-man disadvantage to beat Knox College, 2-1.
North Park went to work right away, as Isak Flo drew a goalkeeper interference foul inside the box in the 4th minute to give William de Carro a chance to put the Vikings up early. de Carro obliged, converting on the PK with a laser into the upper-left corner of the goal.
This would remain the lone goal of the first half, but a quick-trigger red card given to Hugo Neborg gave the Knox offense a fighting chance.
North Park sent in the final two shots of the half; one from Angel Barriga blocked by the defense and another wide right from Tobias Lunde.
In the 50th minute, Love Brandt disrupted the Prairie Fire offense, stealing the ball in front of North Park's bench while in a dead sprint towards midfield. After reaching midfield, Brandt passed forward to Flo, who was bolting between two defenders. Juking one defender and finding his balance after an ankle clash and shoulder tug, Flo beat three defenders and the keeper to give North Park a two-goal lead.
Luck would again fall in the favor of Knox when Vidar Rydell collided with a Prairie Fire player on a free ball. After an aerial battle, an official 20 yards away assessed another red card, this time to Rydell. The Vikings were now forced to play at a two-man disadvantage.
Despite the considerable hurdle, North Park continued to maintain a significant ball possession advantage.
The Prairie Fire did manage a goal in the 87th minute, off a corner kick and chaos in the box, but the Vikings held on for a gritty 2-1 win.

Quick Hits:
- de Carro with his fourth goal of the season, Flo tacks on his third

- Sebastianis Uribe earns his first win in goal, working 90 minutes with three saves
