MILWAUKEE, Wis. – North Park men's golf earned a third-place finish at the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Championship this past weekend, ending with a three-round total of 908. This 2022 spring squad drove scores of 300 and 301 on days two and three, respectively, after a round one total of 307.

Three Vikings received honors after the tournament – Max Golding was named an All-CCIW pick, Jack Haberkorn was an Elite 25 award recipient and Alex Thompson earned the RESPECT award.

To open play at Brown Deer Park for the first round of golf, Jordan Chow led the way for North Park. Chow shot a team-leading 73 and backed it up with a 78 in the next round. Arriving at a crucial time, his round one score of 73 tied a collegiate low.

Jake Jacott played a solid 54 holes as well, shooting in the high 70s for all three rounds.

"Watching him grow into the player he is now over this last year has been extremely enjoyable," said head coach Ryan Frederick. "He is one of those players that reminds you why you love to coach and do what you do."

Alex Thompson ended the championship weekend on a high note, shooting a final round of 73 for a T18 finish.

"Alex has been a fantastic leader and captain," said Frederick. "He has made the transition for me, taking over a new team, as seamless as it could be."

Haberkorn posted high quality second and third rounds, including a second-best second round score of 72, one stroke behind the best individual performances of the day. His third-round score of 74 led him to a top-10 finish at T9.

"Jack has been focused all semester and it will be hard to replace someone as talented as he is," said Frederick.

Golding's 71 in round two was the best individual performance of the round, tying Carthage's Kevin Healy and North Central's Sergio Ronchel. The standout freshman also finished in the top-10 with a T9 finish.

"Max has been a joy to coach and will continue to get better," said Frederick. "This Freshman's future is very bright. Overall, it was a great conference tournament for our guys. This is truly a fun group of guys who like to work hard and aren't afraid of a challenge. I know that the seniors have seen substantial growth as a team since their freshman year. Hats off to the whole team; we had an impressive year."

The third-place performance for Viking men's golf is the best finish since 2003, when only eight teams competed in a two-round tournament.
