KALAMAZOO, MICH. – The North Park volleyball team came out victorious in a four-set battle with Kalamazoo College on Friday night. Taylor Guy and Brily Pence each had double-digit kills in the convincing win for the Vikings.
Rhianna Huebner got the match started with a kill, and Christina Gatta followed that up with two straight aces to get the ball rolling for the Vikings. NPU outscored Kalamazoo at a 5:1 ratio in the early going, building a 15-3 lead at one point. Shamyia Collier brought it to set point with a kill late, and the Vikings finished it off with a 25-12 win.
The Hornets stung back in the second, grinding out a 25-21 victory. The Vikings then brought down the hammer in set three. With the score tied 5-5 early, NPU would score 20 of the next 22 points to turn the set into total domination, winning 25-7. North Park again was in control for the final set when they won by double-digits, a 25-15 decision to take the match 3-1.
