ADRIAN, Mich. – The North Park University women's volleyball team enjoyed six sets full of wins on Saturday afternoon as the Vikings swept Albion College (25-23, 25-15, 25-19) and Adrian College (25-18, 25-18, 25-15) at the Merillat Sport and Fitness Center. This is the third win in a row for Coach Michael Sopocy's team, and the fourth in the last five matches.
In trademark fashion, North Park took off in the opening set of their first match with a 9-3 lead over Albion. The rush of points was manufactured by kills from Rhianna Huebner and Kharlie Simeona-French, as well as service aces for Katy Chess and Adriana Rodriguez.
Albion did not go down easy, however, tying the set three times at 15-15, 22-22, and 23-23. A kill and block by Simeona-French would give the Vikings an opening set win, setting the tone for the rest of the night.
Between the two Saturday matches, the high-powered NPU offense would combine for 15 aces and 80 kills while the defense contributed 11 blocks and 109 digs. The Vikings also held both of their opponents to sub-.100 hitting percentages; Albion attacked at a .053 clip while Adrian totaled a .057 average.
