DECATUR, Ill. – The North Park University women's volleyball team fell victim to a reverse sweep at the hands of No. 14 Millikin University on Wednesday night, dropping the five-set match 3-2 (25-14, 25-19, 19-25, 20-25, 13-15).
In a similar fashion to what's been seen from the Viking Volleyball team this season, North Park exploded for a dominant opening set. NPU utilized a .267 attacking percentage with 13 kills en route to a dominant 25-14 first set win over the nation's 14th-ranked team.
North Park's 25-19 second set win got fans on the edge of their seats, as the Vikings prepared for a sweeping upset of the Big Blue.
However, Millikin flipped the script in the final three sets. The Big Blue, who hit -.077 and .021 in the first and second sets, respectively, doubled their efforts in the next three sets going from four and seven kills to 13 in the third and fourth sets. Additionally, the Big Blue improved their consistency at the net with .333 and .200 attacking percentages.
The Vikings nearly found lighting in a bottle in the final set of the night, holding a 9-6 lead thanks to kills from Brily Pence and Taylor Guy, but a handful of NPU errors and a couple of kills from the Big Blue ended the night with the nationally-ranked hosts coming out on top.
FINAL: No. 14 Millikin 3, North Park 2
