CHICAGO, Ill. -- North Park University Athletics is proud to announce five end-of-the-season award winners for the 2020-21 year. Jake Reinhardt (baseball) and Sinead Molloy (women's basketball) were named the athletes of the year while Frank Mauigoa (men's volleyball) and Esther Miller (women's basketball and track & field) received sportsperson of the year recognition. Additionally, Michael Osborne (men's basketball) was the recipient of the Reed Larson Spirit Award.

Reinhardt had one of the most decorated Viking baseball careers in North Park history, capping his career this season with first-team All-American honors while being named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Hitter of the Year and the Central Region Player of the Year by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and d3baseball.com. The Princeton, Illinois native became the single-season home runs leader at North Park (15), breaking a record set in 1987.

Molloy was a four-year starter for the North Park women's basketball program, guiding the Vikings to three postseason appearances in her career. This past 2021 season, Molloy was named the co-Defensive Player of the Year for North Park and led the team with 3.6 assists per game (fifth in the CCIW). Additionally, the Chicago, Illinois native was the first ever Chris Martin Perseverance Award winner in 2020.

Mauigoa led the inaugural North Park men's volleyball team in attack percentage in 2017 and eventually became one of the program's captains. Mauigoa's athletic career came to a brief halt as he was deployed to Syria as an active military member with the Army. He received the Army Achievement Medal Award for his work in Syria and, since then, has enrolled for six more years in the Army. The Pago Pago, American Samoa native was named to the first ever All-CCIW men's volleyball team in 2020, leading the league with 18 blocks and 71 digs.

Miller was named the most improved player on the North Park women's basketball team in 2021. She averaged six points and 5.5 rebounds per game while also swiping 18 passes from her opponents. Miller is a dynamic student-athlete, as she is also a member of the track & field team. The Sullivan, Illinois native had an all-conference finish to round out the outdoor track season, finishing sixth in the triple jump and eighth in the 400m sprint. Additionally, the physics major maintained a 3.8 grade-point average and is an NPU STEM Scholar Cohort.

This year, the Reed Larson Award was given to Mike Osborne of the North Park men's basketball program. Reed Larson, a member of the North Park men's basketball team, was tragically killed in a car accident in 2001. In his memory, the Reed Larson Award was established. Each year, the award is presented to the student-athlete that best exemplifies the respect of the sport, outstanding practice and work ethic, team spirit, mentoring of other players, love of North Park, and a never-let-up attitude.
End-of-the-year awards for student-athletes were nominated by each team's head coach and voted on by North Park University coaches and Athletics staff members.
