Vikings Drop Non-Conference Battle with Benedictine

Offense aplenty in the 19-8 slugfest

Lisle, Ill. – The North Park University baseball team came up short on Thursday night against Benedictine University, falling by a score of 19-8 in eight innings.

Ranko Stevanovic got the scoring started when he doubled to left field scoring Logan Peters in the top of the first. After the Eagles answered with three runs in the bottom of the first, North Park found their response in the fourth when Bobby Bartlett picked up a two-RBI triple followed by an RBI-single each from Brandon Davis and Jared Cantu. The Vikings would see that 5-3 lead diminished right away when Benedictine scored six in the next half inning to go up 9-5. The final North Park runs came in the seventh when Jim Zay scored Bartlett on a single, Davis stole home, and Jake Reinhardt added his 40th RBI of the season, driving home Zay. After scoring four runs in the bottom of the eighth to go up 19-8, Benedictine won by way of the 10-run rule.
