ELMHURST, Ill. -- The North Park University men's and women's cross country teams opened their seasons at the Early Bird Invitational, hosted by Elmhurst College, this past Saturday.

On the women's side, freshman Molly McChesney posted the best time in the 4km race with an 18:53.3 mark and a 7:36 pace. Not far behind McChesney was sophomore Jackie Mendro, who was timed at 19:02.9 with a pace of 7:40.

In the men's 6km race, freshman Renato Gonzalez was the lead-Viking with a final time of 22:01.5 and a pace of 5:55. 

Elmhurst's Emily Gilligan posted the best overall women's time at 15:27.5 while North Central's Matt Omulski was the best men's finisher at 18:54.1.

What's Next?

The Vikings have some time off before competing at the Spartan Classic, hosted by Aurora University, on Friday, September 13.
