North Park's six-match winning streak came to an unfortunate end after a 9-25, 10-25, 15-25 loss to visiting Millikin University in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin action Tuesday night.
The Big Blue's offensive attack proved to be too much as Audrey Krajec led Millikin with 17 kills on 30 attempts for a .433 hitting percentage. Jenna Hilgers dished 10 assists as well as Millikin, which currently ranks No. 21 nationally, improved to 18-3 on the season.
Despite the loss, junior Monalisa Fasavalu nearly notched a double-double as she finished with five kills and seven digs for North Park. Freshman Darby Switzer added six assists and junior Abigail McKowen had one service ace.
North Park (8-12, 0-1) looks to rebound Wednesday, Oct. 8 when it travels to Bloomington for a 7 p.m. match with Illinois Wesleyan University. The Vikings defeated IWU last season 3-2, ending a nine-year CCIW losing streak behind an 11-kill performance from then sophomore Hayley Brake and 16 digs from McKowen.
