The North Park volleyball team lost a tough 16-25, 16-25, 23-25 decision to Illinois Wesleyan in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin action Wednesday night.

Junior Monalisa Fasavalu led the Vikings with a double-double, her ninth of the season and the sixth in the last seven matches with 10 kills and 14 digs while sophomore Sa'Vone Williams had eight kills and eight digs for a .267 hitting percentage. Junior Hayley Brake added seven kills as well, while freshman Darby Switzer dished 28 assists to pace the offense. Alexis Clay also came up with 12 digs defensively.

Although the Vikings couldn't overcome the deficit, they nearly pulled out a victory in the third set. North Park staked a 14-9 advantage on a kill from Williams and a service from Abigail McKowen. IWU responded to tie the set and later seize an 18-17 lead with a 9-3 scoring run, but again the Vikings didn't back down closing within 24-23 after a kill from Fasavalu off an assist from Switzer. It wasn't until a hitting error on the final point that Wesleyan was able to earn the win.

The Titans were led by Sophomore Maisy Bowden and freshman Anne Cummings who each had 10 kills while freshman Kyleigh Block got nine kills with three blocks and 15 digs.

North Park (8-13, 0-2) looks rebound Saturday, Oct. 11 it travels to Naperville to compete in the Tiffany Robinson Memorial Tournament at North Central College. The first match is scheduled for 11 a.m. against St. Mary's University. They will end the tournament with a 1 p.m. contest against the host Cardinals.
