The North Park football team returns home to face College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin opponent Millikin University tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m.
North Park is looking to bounce back from a tough 28-0 loss to host Elmhurst College last week.
The Vikings offense uncharacteristically struggled unfortunately against EC as NP amassed only 166 yards of total offense. Sophomore quarterback T.D. Conway was able to connect on 11 of his 33 passes, but threw for only 104 yards. Anthony Burton was his top target as he caught four passes for 78 yards.
The Vikings managed to reach the red zone twice in the second quarter, but were denied both times by the Elmhurst defense. Noah Moore had an opportunity to put NP on the scoreboard with a 29-yard field goal with 13:14 left in the period but it was blocked. North Park's second opportunity –where they reached the Elmhurst 18-yard line—just came up short as well unfortunately.
Drew Walkington led the Vikings' ground game with 18 carries for 65 yards. Defensively, Chaun Maiava had a breakout game as he collected 11 total tackles, including eight unassisted. Trevor Forker also had five unassisted tackles and Matt Leibforth recorded a sack for the Vikings.
Millkin enters tomorrow's game looking to snap a three-game losing streak after the Big Blue fell 28-3 to visiting Wheaton College last week.
In the last meeting between North Park and Millikin, the Vikings earned a 35-32 victory in Decatur Nov. 9, 2013, which snapped a 42-year losing streak against the Big Blue.
