The North Park volleyball couldn't overcome a fast start from host North Central College Friday night as the Cardinals earned a 25-13, 25-14, 25-19 victory over the Vikings in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin action.
Despite the loss North Park still had some solid individual performances as junior Monalisa Fasavalu threw down 10 kills, her 12th double-digit kill performance this season and her second in the last three matches. Both Sa'Vone Williams and Hayley Brake each added four and freshman Darby Switzer dished 21 assists.
Defensively, Karen Rosales continued to impress as the junior libero notched her third-straight performance of double-digit digs as she finished with 14. She's averaging 14 digs per match over the last three.
North Park overcame a slow start in the third set as it erased a 4-1 deficit and turned it into a 5-4 advantage after a 4-1 scoring run highlighted by kills from Switzer, Williams and Fasavalu. North Central rebounded however to move ahead 12-7 with an 8-2 swing, and later reeled off 10 of the set's next 18 points to move ahead 22-15 on a kill from Julie Laugel, who finished with 18 to lead the Cardinals.
North Park (8-17, 0-4) returns to action Tuesday when it travels to Wheaton College for a 7 p.m. match with the Thunder.
