Box Score
Seeking their first two-game College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin winning streak since the 1993 season, North Park just came up a little short with visiting Elmhurst College at the Holmgren Athletic Complex Saturday.
Despite a 200-plus passing yards performance from freshman
T.D. Conway, his fourth in the last five games, the Vikings couldn't solve Elmhurst's run game in the second half as the Bluejays earned a 28-14 win before a near capacity crowd.
Conway, who threw for 283 yards on 24 completions, connected on only one touchdown in the contest. Elmhurst garnered 183 yards on the ground, led by 81 from sophomore running back Josh Williams, and finished with 315 yards of total offense. The Bluejays overcame a 14-7 deficit midway through the third quarter with a game-tying touchdown at the 3:47 mark, which ended a 62-yard drive, and added two more scores in the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach.
North Park took the initial lead when Conway found his brother
Dakota Conway for a three-yard score with just under 30 seconds remaining before halftime. Elmhurst tied it on a one-yard run from Williams, but the Vikings engineered another scoring drive, this time a 75-yard march that ended with a one-yard score from freshman
Marquis Magwood at the 8:23 mark of the third.
The Vikings ground game sputtered unfortunately as NP was only able to garner seven yards, but they kept their drives alive with sensational pass plays that led to nine catches for 105 yards for Dakota. Freshman
Cody Hood added two catches for 48 yards, and Magwood had four catches for 40 yards.
North Park (2-6, 2-3) returns to action next weekend when it travels to Decatur for a 1 p.m. contest with Millikin University.
