The North Park men's basketball team was edged by visiting Augustana College 59-57 in College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin action Tuesday night.

North Park had a chance to win the game at the buzzer, but sophomore Mike Gabriel missed a three-pointer that just went right of the rim as time expired.  The Vikings nearly overcame a seven-point deficit in the last 4:23 as they put together a 7-2 scoring run that led to the final shot attempt. Gabriel's lay-up with 43 seconds left brought NP within a basket.

Junior Mark Holmes finished with a team-high 15 points, as he connected for three three-pointers. Gabriel added 12 as the only other Viking in double-figure scoring. Troy Rorer led Augustana with 16 points.

North Park (5-17, 1-10) returns to action this weekend when it travels to Decatur for a 4 p.m. tip-off with Millikin University.
