Box Score
Looking to continue their momentum after a strong victory over the University of Dubuque Tuesday, North Park battled host Augustana College to a 1-1, double overtime men's soccer decision Saturday in Rock Island.
The Vikings controlled the tempo from the onset, out-shooting Augustana 8-5 in the regulation periods and 2-0 in the overtime frames, but AC struck first with a goal in the 53rd minute when Grant Halter put away his first goal of the season off a Josh Bennett assist. North Park came back to tie the contest in the 71st minute when junior
Fred Sund tallied his first goal of the year on a cross pass from
Markus Fodstad, but neither team could come up with the game-winner thereafter as both defenses took over the final 29 minutes of the CCIW affair.
Sophomore forward
Jonas Pettersson, NP's leading scorer, was marked for most of the game as Augie held him without a shot, but sophomore
Fredrik Greiff, who tallied three goals against Dubuque earlier in the week, finished with four shots. North Park recorded six shots on goal to AC's two. Senior goalkeeper
Tim Ahlberg played all 110 minutes and made one save.
North Park (5-2-4, 0-0-2) returns to action when it travels to Wisconsin for a 7 p.m. matchup with UW-Oshkosh Wednesday night.
