Football loses to North Central

Box Score

North Central proved why it's among the elite in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin as the visiting Cardinals rolled to a 58-17 victory over North Park in the Homecoming football game Saturday.

But what was equally as impressive was the performance North Park junior quarterback Jon Williams had in the face of the six-time conference champions.

In only his second start at the position after filling in for injured starting QB Tyler Krebs, Williams completed 10 of his 14 passes for 141 yards, including a 51-yard strike to senior Matt Hassan that nearly set up a touchdown drive for the Vikings. In addition, Williams also garnered 52 yards rushing on 10 carries to finish the day with nearly 200 yards (193) of total offense.

Williams orchestrated both of NP's scoring drives as he capped the first one, an 80-yard drive, with a nine-yard run to the end zone. He then found junior Bryan Lorman for an 8-yard toss, which completed a 62-yard drive with a little over 11 minutes left in the contest.

In all, North Park garnered 286 yards of total offense, and edged North Central in passing yards 145-116. Senior kicker Tony Kebede also booted a 29-yard field goal, his third field goal of the season.

North Park (1-5, 0-3) returns to action this coming Saturday when it hosts Augustana College at 1 p.m.
