CHICAGO, IL (September 4, 2011) – The North Park men's soccer team pulled out a 2-0 upset win over No. 7-ranked Dominican University in non-conference action Sunday night.
In a contest that saw a combined 10 yellow cards, North Park used the momentum of its raucous crowd of 692 students, fans and parents to defeat the Stars for the second time in four tries in the last three years.
Sophomore Robin Hals scored what turned out to be the game-winner in the 20th minute off an assist from freshman Jonas Petterson. Petterson then tallied the second goal, his second of the season in the 63rd minute unassisted.
Despite being out-shot 16-6, including 10-3 in the second half, North Park controlled the pace of the game and came up with some strong defensive stops throughout.
The Vikings (2-0) return to action Wednesday night, Sept. 7 when they host Concordia University Chicago at 7 p.m.
