Men's Soccer Upends CUW 4-1

CHICAGO, IL (September 13, 2011) – The North Park men's soccer team earned a 4-1 win over visiting Concordia University Wisconsin Tuesday night in non-conference action.

North Park, which came in to the contest ranked No. 10 in the latest D3Soccer.comTop 25 national poll, recorded 14 shots, six on goal en route to their fourth win of the season in the first five games.

NP fell behind early in the contest when Concordia struck first in the 37th minute, but senior Sehten Hills got the Viking faithful of 326 fans going just before halftime when he nailed a 34-yard shot unassisted for the equalizer.

The Vikings came out strong in the second half as they tallied three goals, all from the feet of freshman Jonas Pettersson. Pettersson tallied the first of his hat trick in the 59th minute when he took a cross assist from senior Ryan McNaughton, which turned out to be the game-winner. Sophomore Robin Hals then assisted on Pettersson's final goals, one coming in the 88th minute and the other coming less than a minute later.

Junior keeper Tim Ahlberg played all 90 minutes and recorded four saves.

North Park (4-0-1) returns to action this weekend when it travels to North Carolina to take on Methodist University at 11 a.m. Saturday and NC Wesleyan at 1 p.m. Sunday.
