WARRENVILLE, Ill. -- North Park Cross Country competed at Wheaton's Gil Dodds Invite on Friday afternoon. The men were led by another top 10 finish from Gunner Silva, who placed seventh of 100 runners.
Silva was the highlight of the afternoon for the Vikings, becoming one of just two College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) runners to break into the top 10 of finishers, joining North Central's Ari Elmayan. Silva crossed the line at 25:27.3, the third-best time in North Park history and the first Viking in the 21st century to break the 25:30 threshold in the 8K.
For the women, Anika Izenbart led North Park with a time of 26:19.7 in the 6K.
U-Chicago took first place in both events, as Cornell's Jacob Bach (24:42.6) and Chicago's Katja Dunayevich (21:39.3) were the respective men's and women's champions in the event.
