Vikings Name Caleb Ferguson Associate Head Cross Country Coach and Assistant Track & Field Coach

CHICAGO, Ill. -- North Park University Athletics and Coach Bisrat Kidane have announced the hiring of Caleb Ferguson as its new Associate Head Cross Country Coach and Assistant Track & Field Coach. Ferguson will lead the development of the Vikings' distance runners while assisting with all aspects of the cross country and track & field programs.

Ferguson joins North Park from Wartburg College, where he served as an assistant coach for cross country and track & field. During his tenure, he helped coach 20 NCAA national qualifiers, 36 All-Americans, and multiple record-breaking performances.

Prior to Wartburg, Ferguson coached at both Millikin University and Calvin University. At Millikin, he developed individualized training programs and coached athletes to school-record performances. At Calvin, he served as both an assistant coach and admissions counselor, gaining valuable experience in recruiting and student-athlete development.

In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Ferguson has worked as an independent running coach, training athletes from the 1,600 meters through the marathon. As a student-athlete at Calvin, he earned USTFCCCA Academic All-America honors and NCAA Division III All-America recognition.

Ferguson holds bachelor's degrees in Social Work and Political Science from Calvin University and earned his Master of Business Administration from Millikin University. He also holds a USTFCCCA Distance Specialist Certification.

"I am extremely excited and grateful for the opportunity to work as part of this community at North Park University and within the Track and Cross Country programs that have been established under Coach Kidane's leadership these last six years, said Ferguson." The university's focus on inclusion and being city-centered make me feel right at home as I look forward to moving back to a city I grew up around. Coach Kidane is handing off the program to me in a great spot, where I think we can all be encouraged by both the immediate future, as well as the potential that distance running can have at North Park for many years to come!"

Ferguson will begin his duties immediately as the Vikings prepare for the upcoming cross country season.
