ROCK ISLAND, Ill. -- North Park Cross Country competed at the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Championships on Saturday afternoon. Freshman Marley Gandee was the lead story for the Vikings, earning a top-5 placing in a field of 79 athletes.

Gandee recorded the fifth-best time in program history at the championship meet, crossing the 6k line at 22:50.0 to place fourth in the event. For her efforts, she was named the Female First-Year Athlete of the Meet and secured first-team all-conference honors.

For the men, Ali Karatas was North Park's top performer with an 8k time of 27:40.9.
