PEARL, Miss. -- North Park Baseball dropped a pair of games on Saturday in Mississippi. The Vikings fell to 18th-ranked Belhaven 9-6 before a 12-2 loss to host Millsaps later that evening.

Senior righty Samuel Jackson had the ball for the first game of the day against Belhaven, spinning 5.1. innings while punching out three. He had a web gem early in his start, snagging a line drive at shoulder height to get out of a bases-loaded jam in the third.

The Vikings built a 2-0 lead through three innings thanks to an RBI single by sophomore first baseman John Greenwood in the first and an RBI grounder by Greenwood in the third. However, Belhaven responded with two in the fifth, three in the sixth, and four in the seventh. North Park built a comeback in the ninth on a sac fly by senior designated hitter Rylan Kawakami and another RBI single by Greenwood. However, it fell short in the 9-6 loss.

Against Millsaps, an early lead by the hosts proved insurmountable in the short-game loss. Millsaps scored in every inning except the first, including a five-run, five-hit third to put the game out of reach.

The Vikings collected four hits in the loss, including a home run to center field from senior center fielder Joe Perona.

North Park (2-4) finishes its time in Mississippi on Saturday, March 1, with a game against Missiissippi University for Women. First pitch is set for 11:00 AM CT at Twenty Field.
