MINNEAPOLIS -- Returning All-Region safety Ben Butler was named a Preseason All-American according to D3football.com's press release on Monday afternoon. Butler was a third-team honoree on D3football.com's All-Region 5 team this past 2024 season and returns for his senior year with the Vikings.
Butler led the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) in interceptions (4) and had 63 total tackles (52 solo, 11 assisted) in his junior 2024 season that saw him secure first-team All-CCIW honors. He had 4 tackles for loss and 1 sack, both very impressive from the safety position. On top of his 4 interceptions, Butler had 2 pass breakups and a fumble recovery on the season. He enjoyed a season high eight tackles against national champion North Central on October 19.
Butler was the CCIW Defensive Player of the Week and earned a spot on the D3football.com National Team of the Week in late October after intercepting Illinois Wesleyan in the Titans' final three drives of the game.
North Park opens its 2025 season on the road in a non-conference contest against Ripon College on Saturday, September 6. Kickoff under the lights and inside Hopp Stadium is set for 6:00 PM CT.
