WINTER HAVEN, Fla. -- North Park Baseball had a rough start to their Florida trip on Thursday evening, falling to the Buena Vista Beavers (6-2) 18-1 in seven innings.
The Beavers batted around in their first trip to the plate, scoring seven runs on as many hits, including a bases-clearing, three-run triple for right fielder Seth Busch. The Vikings scored their lone run of the game in their half of the first when senior center fielder Alex DiVito scored from first base on a two-out double into left field by senior left fielder Nate Sommerfeld.
Sommerfeld, junior right fielder Joe Perona, freshman first baseman John Greenwood, and a pinch hit single from senior Graham Porter were the only Vikings to collect hits in the loss, as Buena Vista's Ean McDaniel fanned 10 and didn't allow an earned run in his seven-inning win.
The Beavers were led by a 3-for-4 day from Busch and a 2-for-4 day from Brandon Jenkins, who drove in four thanks to a double and home run.
