Vikings Volleyball secures second-straight sweep with 3-0 win over Bulldogs

Ingrao with 14 kills in the match as the Vikings get back to .500

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- North Park Men's Volleyball got back to .500, marked their second-straight sweep, and third-straight win all thanks to a Calvin Tournament opening win against Adrian College (4-9) on Friday night.

This match was never in question, as the Vikings limited service errors while maintaining a season second-best hitting percentage of .235 in the win. The Vikings had their fewest service errors of the season (9) and drove 41 kills, tied for sixth-most in program history.

In the first set, North Park scored the first point off a Sam Robinson kill and never let the Bulldogs catch up, hitting .205 with 13 kills and only five errors in the set. Ty Ingrao led NPU with a .444 hitting percentage and five kills in the first race to 25 while fifth-year libero Noah Chanthalangsy had seven digs.

North Park only improved in the second set, hitting .448 with 17 kills while allowing Adrian to score only nine points via the kill. Once more, Ingrao led the Vikings with seven kills and was aided by three more from Robinson and two each from Gerald Malana, Jonah Johnsamson, and Teddy Gedville. Gedville and Liam Miller each added an ace in the set.

The Vikings briefly opened the door in a third set that featured four lead changes and nine tied scores. Even after the final tie of the set, the Bulldogs would nearly prevent a sweep before a kill by Robinson and a pair of Adrian service errors ended the match.

Ingrao led all players with 14 kills and Robinson nearly reached double digits with nine kills on the evening. Johnsamson had a pair of blocks while Malana and Chanthalangsy added 11 and 10 digs, respectively.
