GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The North Park Vikings completed a successful weekend in Grand Rapids Michigan with a pair of wins against St. Norbert College and Rockford University. After wrapping up on Saturday night in Van Noord Arena, the Vikings only surrendered one set all weekend.
Game 1: North Park Vikings vs. St. Norbert Green Knights
Looking to build off the momentum of a Friday night sweep of Adrian College, the Vikings were set back momentarily after the Green Knights secured the first set 25-21. This would be the first and only set won by an opposing team all weekend as the Vikings bounced back winning sets 2,3 and 4 by scores of 25-14, 25-23 and 25-19.
At the end of the match, North Park led in kills, aces, assists and digs. Ty Ingrao led the Vikings in Kills and Aces with 15 and 3 respectively, followed by Gerald Malana with 11 kills and 1 ace, and Sam Robinson with 8 kills and 2 aces.
Teddy Gedville, Robinson and Malana each contributed 2 blocks apiece to stifle the Green Knights attacks. Gedville also provided the offense with 23 assists, followed by Liam Miller with 16 and Noah Chanthalangsy with 4.
Game 2: Vikings vs. Rockford Regents
There was no looking back for the Vikings as they faced off against their second opponent of the day, the Rockford University Regents. Sitting in the driver's seat the duration of the match, the Vikings swept the Regents in straight sets, winning 25-17, 25-15, and 25-21.
Ingrao and Robinson once again led the offensive charge, leading in kills with 10 apiece. Ingrao and Robinson also provided 4 and 2 aces, respectively. Braedon Lenon also contributed 9 kills, while Teddy Gedville had 1 ace. Robinson, Gedville, and Jonah Johnsamson held it down on defense, with 3 blocks for Robinson and Johnsamson each, and one for Gedville.
