NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) announced its Players of the Week on Monday afternoon and North Park sophomore linebacker DJ Johnson shared the Defensive honors with Illinois Wesleyan's Ian Whitaker.  Johnson is the third player to be awarded a Player of the Week for North Park football this season, joining teammates Wesley McCloud and Jereme Ombogo.
In the Vikings' 14-10 win over Carthage last Saturday, Johnson returned an interception 58 yards for a Vikings touchdown near the start of the second quarter that gave North Park a 7-3 lead over the Firebirds.

After Johnson's pick-6, the defense only allowed one touchdown the rest of the game as well as their second-lowest opponent point total all season. In addition to the pick-6 Johnson ended with 5 total tackles, 2 pass break ups, and 1 QB hurry.
Johnson and his teammates will look to continue adding to the defensive momentum the Vikings have built as they enter the last two games of their season.
