Viking rival comes to town for Homecoming

Chicago, Il., -- North Park (2-1, 1-1) played spoiler last year to Augustana College (2-1, 1-1) on their homecoming weekend, in a 30-27 in double overtime thriller.  This year, one can expect that Augie will come into this week's game with revenge on their mind.  Both Vikings teams notched their first conference win in week 4, Augie taking down Millikin 33-6 and North Park besting Elmhurst 34-6.  Augie has a history of getting the best of North Park, winning eight of the last ten, however North Park looks to make it back-to-back wins against their Viking rival.

Sophomore quarterback Cailix Dillon will presumably make his second collegiate start this Saturday, hoping to add to the confidence and success he had last week against Elmhurst.  Dillon's running ability added to the immense rushing total North Park had last week, with strong performances from sophomore running backs Bryce Black and Aidan Delisi, the three combined for 206 rushing yards and Delisi punching in two touchdowns.  Receivers Wesley McCloud, Levi Sheehan, and Micah Catron all played well, hovering around 50 yards each -- the Vikings will need to continue to spread the ball around this week against Augie to keep their defense guessing.

North Park linebacker Amare Johnson and safety Ben Butler were both named to the DIII National Team of the Week, Johnson with 7 tackles (3 solo, 4 assisted), a pass breakup, and a blocked extra point, while Butler had two special team returns for a total of 9 points for the Vikings, one of those coming off the Johnson blocked extra point.  Defensively, these guys will have their hands full with the skill players Augie has like receivers Breyden Smith and Ethan Vrabec, and their new quarterback, Jimmy Makuh, who has yet to have finished a game with a completion percentage less than 60%.

Kickoff is set for 1pm on Saturday, October 4th.
