NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- North Park Men's Volleyball reigned in two of three College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) weekly honors on Monday afternoon. Sophomore outside hitter Gerald Malana was the Offensive honoree while fifth-year libero Noah Chanthalangsy was the Defensive selection for the league's first honor roll of 2025.
Malana, in his second season with the Vikings by way of Dededo, Guam, had a pair of double-doubles to lead North Park to a doubleheader split last Friday. He totaled 15 kills and 12 digs in a season-opening win over Concordia (IL) before setting another career high with 17 kills alongside 10 digs against Westminster. Malana added seven service aces - three against the Cougars and four vs. the Blue Jays and totaled five blocks.
Chanthalangsy wasted no time in his debut with the Vikings, setting a single-match record for NPU with 25 digs against Concordia. The fifth-year, who transferred in from Benedictine University this season, added 15 more digs against Westminster and totaled 10 assists in Friday's two matches. His 25 digs are also a career high.
North Park (1-1) returns to action on Tuesday, Jan. 21 in a road match with Concordia (WI). First serve in R. John Buuck Field House is set for 7:00 PM CT.
