CHICAGO, Ill. -- North Park started their conference play against a tough Augustana College (6-1-1) team that has the CCIW's second leading scorer 5th year senior Liesl Whitener (10 goals). Until the 41st minute of the match, the game was at a stalemate 0-0 as both teams were playing lights out defensively, with junior goalkeeper Paige MacRitchie would post 3 first half saves. North Park had some opportunities to score as well, with junior midfielder Stine Lie and senior midfielder Nora Vangsnes tallying a shot on goal. However, Whitener would add to her season total with a goal from 10 yards out to take a 1-0 lead just before the half.
Within the first ten minutes of the second half, Whitener knocked in her second goal of the day after her penalty kick was blocked and she scored on the rebound, pushing Augustana's lead to 2-0. North Park stayed aggressive matching Augustana's shot total throughout the game. Vagsnes and Lie added another shot on goal each, while junior forwards Sofie Swedberg had one as well. It was freshman midfielder Hannah Björkegren who got North Park on the board with a 21-yard strike to the top right corner for her first goal of her collegiate career, making it 2-1 still in Augustana's favor.
North Park couldn't close the gap all the way and it was Augustana College who walked away with the win, moving to (7-1-1)
