Vikings put Titans on tilt in 3-1 road victory

OSHKOSH, Wis. -- North Park Women's Soccer got back in the win column on Wednesday night with a 3-1 win over the UW-Oshkosh Titans. The Vikings held a shutout for nearly the entire match before allowing a goal in the 87th minute.

The Titans and Vikings traded a pair of shots on goal through the first 20 minutes, volleying for an advantage under the lights at JJ Keller Field. Sophomore midfielder Maja Applequist gave the Vikings another opportunity in the 29th minute with a corner kick. However, the corner would fly untouched into the back of the net for Applequist's second goal of the season and first of the game.

Junior midfielder Stine Lie set up the next goal when her cross into the box bounced off the Titans' keeper, allowing senior midfielder Emily Le to convert on the opportunity with her first goal of the season in the 37th minute.

After halftime, another "first" would arrive in the 59th minute when senior midfielder Nora Vangsnes played a pass to fellow senior midfielder Ella Zaar, who secured the third Viking goal of the game and the first of her career.

Senior goalkeeper Emily LaSalle was working on her first shutout of the season, saving seven shots, before an 87th minute goal by Jaden LeRoy prevented the blanking.

  • Goals for Applequist, Le, and Zaar
  • Assists to Vangsnes and Lie
  • NPU and UWO both with 19 shots, NPU with the 13-8 shots on goal advantage
