CHICAGO, Ill. – North Park University Head Men's Basketball Coach Edwind McGhee has announced the hiring of Aaron Jacobs as a full-time assistant coach. Jacobs joins the Vikings after three successful seasons as an assistant coach at Wabash College and Wisconsin Lutheran College.
"We are extremely excited to add Aaron Jacobs to our staff as an assistant coach," said McGhee. "Coach Jacobs is an up-and-coming rock star in this profession and we couldn't be more elated to have him as a part of our North Park family. He is a proven winner who will have an impact on all facets of our program including recruiting, scouting, player development, campus relations, academics, and mentorship."
At Wabash, Jacobs assisted in leading the Little Giants to back-to-back North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) titles and three consecutive NCAC Tournament Championships. Jacobs, alongside head coach Kyle Brumett and assistant coaches Pat Sullivan and Ron Henricks, were honored with NCAC Coaching Staff of the Year accolades in February 2024. He coached the Little Giants to consecutive 20-win seasons and NCAA Tournament appearances while playing a role in developing five All-NCAC players and the two-time NCAC Player of the Year.
Before Wabash, Jacobs served as an assistant coach at Wisconsin Lutheran College for the 2021-2022 season, helping the Warriors to a 16-9 record and quarterfinal round appearance in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Tournament. Wisconsin Lutheran ranked 21st in the nation (4.5) and led the NACC in turnover margin, as well as topping the conference list in scoring margin (7.5) and offensive rebounds per game (13.52).
Jacobs earned his degree from Holy Family College where he was a scholarship athlete and earned the Laker Award for outstanding character and leadership. He concluded his collegiate playing career at Lakeland University before obtaining his master's from Wisconsin Lutheran College.
"Joining the North Park University community was a no brainer for my fiancé and I," said Jacobs. "We are ecstatic to move back to Illinois where our roots are. I am ready to work and build on the foundation of culture and success that the program has established. Go Vikes!"
