CHICAGO, Ill. -- North Park Men's Soccer sent a program record five players to the 2024 United Soccer Coaches All-Region VIII list, as the organization announced on Tuesday afternoon. Junior defender Hugo Neborg was a first-team selection, junior defender Teo Helm, fifth-year midfielder Jostein Blindheim, and freshman midfielder Bastian Eikeland were third-team selections, and sophomore midfielder Eduardo Cirilo was a fourth-team honoree.

Neborg played a role in 10 Viking shutouts this season, captaining a Viking defense that proved to be one of the best in Division III soccer. He led the team with nine assists, including setting up scores in four of the last five games of the season. Neborg scored twice and put eight shots on target.

Blindheim enjoyed his final collegiate season of soccer by scoring a team second-best five goals, including three in a row from Oct. 12 (Illinois Wesleyan) through Oct. 19 (Carroll). He had a goal and assist in the CCIW semifinal match against Illinois Wesleyan and led NPU with 23 shots on target.

Helm was on the field for all 11 of North Park's shutouts, adding additional blanket coverage for the staunch defense. He had assists at U-Chicago and Carroll while also marking goals against WashU and in the same game against Carroll. He put five shots on goal and played in all 90 minutes across 17 different games.

Eikeland led the Vikings in points (20) and goals scored (7) in his first college season, enjoying a breakout performance with two goals and four shots on target in a win over UW-Whitewater (Sept. 18). He added six assists on the season, including three against Augustana (Sept. 28). Against IWU in the semifinals, he had two goals and an assist.

Cirilo did plenty of the dirty work for North Park, constantly removing possession from his opponents. He played a role in nine shutouts and logged 90 minutes of field time in 10 different matches, including every minute of the Vikings' first round NCAA match against UW-Superior.
