NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- After guiding No. 9 North Park Men's Soccer to a pair of wins last week, junior defender Teo Helm was named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon. Helm becomes the sixth player from North Park Soccer to receive a weekly honor by the CCIW this season, joining teammates Alexander Gahm (Oct. 15), Jostein Blindheim (Oct. 15), Bastian Eikeland (Oct. 1), Hugo Neborg (Oct. 1), and Ludvig Almborg (Sept. 17).
Helm played all 90 minutes in both of the Vikings' wins last week; a multi-goal triumph over U-Chicago on Oct. 16 and North Park's 10th shutout win of the season against Carroll on Oct. 19. Helm assisted on a goal in both games and added an insurance goal of his own against the Pioneers.Â
The Hässleholm, Sweden native has logged 90 minutes of playing time in a dozen games this season. His crucial role for the Viking defense has led to North Park earning top national ranks in Goals Against Average (16th, 0.563), and Goal Differential (35th, +22).
