Pios spoil Vikings' Senior Night

0-0 stalemate turns into 3-0 wash

CHICAGO, Ill. -- It was senior night for the Vikings as the Pioneers of Carroll University (6-4-2, 4-0) came to town to kick off the final stretch of conference games for both the men's and women's teams before the CCIW Tournament.  Outside the top four teams, the conference records of the bottom 10 is as close as it gets, meaning this match is vital for the women's team's chances of making the conference tournament.

Carroll kept the ball on the North Park end of the pitch for a significant portion of the first half but was unable to capitalize on any of their shots despite having 8 attempts.  Senior keeper Emily LaSalle and the defense held strong as the offense started to get going in the latter end of the half, tallying 4 shots and having some good possessions on the Pioneer half of the pitch.  However, the half would conclude with a 0-0 score.

It was a different story in the second half as Carroll notched the first and second score of the game within the first ten minutes, taking an early 2-0 lead.  The Vikings would stay aggressive, but the effort wouldn't amount to any goals.  The Pioneers would add another goal to their total with 15 minutes left in the game, going on to win the match 3-0.

What's Next?

The Vikings continue their conference play with back-to-back away games at Millikin University on October 23rd and North Central October 26th.
