DECATUR, Ill. -- North Park Women's Soccer gave up just one early goal on Wednesday night in Decatur, but the Millikin University Big Blue would ride that score out, beating the Vikings 1-0.

North Park put the first shot on frame in the fifth minute when Julia Önnerheim chipped a shot saved by Big Blue goalkeeper Myka Smith. The Big Blue's Payton Dominguez returned one of her own in the 10th minute, saved by NPU keeper Emily LaSalle, but it was the next shot that would be the decider for Millikin.

After a corner kick for Millikin, a quick turnover by NPU allowed Millikin's Hailie Schafman to split the Viking defense before finding Izzy Jones up the middle inside the box, scoring her fifth goal of the season in the 11th minute.

Unfortunately, despite a 10-4 shots on goal advantage for North Park, this is all Millikin would need. LaSalle would smother the other three shots she saw on goal. Önnerheim and sophomore forward Caroline Sjøstedt each had a pair of shots on goal in the loss.

CCIW playoff hopes remain alive for North Park (5-9-1, 1-4-1 CCIW) who head to Naperville this coming Saturday, Oct. 26, for a match at North Central College (13-4, 5-1 CCIW). Kickoff at Benedetti-Wherli Stadium is set for a unique time of 11:00 AM CT.
