ELMHURST, Ill. -- The North Park Women's Soccer team traveled to Elmhurst to play at Langhorst Field on Wednesday night. The Vikings had plenty of opportunities, firing 26 shots with 10 on frame, but fell victim to a 1-0 loss.
North Park controlled the possession game for most of the match, tallying 26 shots and 10 on goal to the Bluejays' eight shots with four on goal. There was also a corner kick advantage for the Vikings, 5-3. However, these scoring chances fell through for both sides as the two teams were scoreless at halftime.
The Bluejays' keeper, Erin Fitzharris, stayed busy, saving all eight shots she faced in the evening.
The Vikings had five players with at least two shot attempts and three players with at least two shots on goal. Senior midfielder Nora Vangsnes led the way for the Vikings with four shots and three on goal. Sophomores Caroline Sjøstedt and Maja Applequist both had two shots on goal as well, with a combined seven shot total.
In the 81st minute of the match, Elmhurst scored the only goal of the match in close quarters inside North Park's goal box, taking a late lead 1-0. Elmhurst would hold on in the final nine minutes and secure the victory.
