GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The North Park University Women's Volleyball team continued their impressive winning streak this weekend, notching three consecutive victories to improve their season record to an outstanding 13-1. The Vikings secured hard-fought wins against Albion College, #4-ranked Calvin University, and Earlham College. For her efforts, junior outside hitter Adriana Rodriguez was named to the All-Tournament team.
Game 1: Albion College
In a commanding performance, the North Park University Women's Volleyball team swept aside Albion College Volleyball in three sets. The Vikings highlighted their dominance with set scores of 25-19, 25-19, and 25-17. Adriana Rodriguez led the offensive with 13 kills, while Meg Rothermel and Kharlie Simeona-French added 7 and 5 kills, respectively. Christina Gatta orchestrated the team's offense, accumulating 31 assists. Defensively, Carolina Aviles contributed 14 digs, while Rodriguez and Gatta added 12 and 10 digs, respectively. At the net, Simeona-French, Rhianna Huebner, and Rothermel each contributed with 4 blocks, effectively shutting down Albion's attacks. The Vikings then looked toward their most challenging opponent of the weekend, Calvin University.
Game 2: Calvin University
In a stunning upset, the North Park University Women's Volleyball team triumphed over the #4-ranked Calvin University Volleyball team in a thrilling five-set match. Adriana Rodriguez led the charge with 16 kills, while Huebner and Rottman contributed 6 kills each. Christina Gatta's setting skills shone through with 31 assists, and Huebner's imposing 3.0 blocks played a pivotal role at the net. Defensively, Carolina Aviles tallied 17 digs, while Gatta added 13 of her own.
Game 3: Earlham College
In their final matchup of the weekend, North Park University faced Earlham College in a five-set battle, once again emerging victorious with a 3-2 victory. The set scores of 25-18, 25-17, 17-25, 24-26, and 15-4 highlighted the Vikings' ability to take care of business. Adriana Rodriguez contributed significantly with 19 kills, while Raghen Walker and Meg Rothermel tacked on 11 kills each. Christina Gatta continued to shine with 50 assists and 16 digs, while Carolina Aviles showcased her defense with 14 digs.
