Men's Soccer Tallies 15 Corners in Three-Goal Blanking of Augie

CHICAGO, Ill. -- To say Saturday night's men's soccer game in Chicago was "all North Park" would be an understatement. North Park blanked Augustana, 3-0, dominating with 19-4 shots, 15-1 in corner kicks, and 6-2 shots on goal.

North Park took their time in finding the back of the net but a cross from junior midfielder William de Carro that was slightly redirected by sophomore forward Emil Svenander found the possession of freshman forward Vicente Sabbione, who knocked in the tiebreaker in the 32nd minute.

Through the first half of play, the Chicago Vikings kept their 1-0 lead, overwhelming the Rock Island Vikings in shots, 11-1.

A quiet start to the first half was interrupted in the 75th minute when junior defender Rocco Wallin's corner kick was headed in for the second score of the game by fifth-year Jostein Blindheim.

As the 10-second countdown was read, signaling the end of the game, a pair of touches from sophomore midfielder Johan Bjorck and freshman midfielder Mathias Soerum moved the ball up to Svenander. With two seconds on the clock, Svenander cranked a buzzer beater, scoring the third goal of the game with just one second left.
