CHICAGO, Ill. – The North Park men's soccer team played the Wartburg College Knights to a scoreless draw on Friday night. The Vikings reached double-digit shots and outpaced the Knights 5-1 with shots on goal but could not find the back of the net in 90 minutes.
North Park's first major scoring opportunity arrived in the 37th minute when sophomore defender Hugo Neborg lobbed a close free kick into the box which led to junior defender Christian Vaaland drawing a foul. However, on the ensuing PK, Wartburg keeper Brennon Woody saved the attempt, keeping the game scoreless.
North Park had late scoring chances in the last 15 minutes of the game when freshman forward Carson Belcher kicked a blocked and saved shots in back-to-back chances in the 78th minute before Vaaland would bump a header high.
The last scoring chance of the game for the Vikings arrived in the 87th minute when freshman midfielder Mathias Soerum received a pass 20 yards from the goal. However, with another big-time save, Woody lept to punch the would-be game winner away from harm, resulting in the 0-0 tie.

North Park (3-1-1) turn around 24 hours later for a 2022 NCAA Tournament revenge match against Ohio Northern on Saturday, September 16. Kickoff at Holmgren is set for 7:00 PM.
