CHICAGO, Ill. -- The North Park women's soccer team hosted the Roosevelt University Lakers on a rainy Monday evening, falling by a final score of 2-1.
The Lakers controlled the pace of the game throughout the first half with nine shots against the Vikings' three.  The two teams played over 20 minutes of scoreless soccer before Lakers' Gris Gurrola scored her first goal of the season in the 25th minute. The Lakers' second and game-deciding goal came in the 45th minute from Nya Bejarano off a rebounded shot by Ashley Luvianos.Â
North Park took control in the second half recording nine shots against Roosevelt's four. The Vikings' lone goal came from the boot of junior forward, Kaia Randklev with the assist coming from sophomore defender Stella Alvstad. Freshman forward Caroline Sjøstedt skipped a good lead pass ahead to Alvstad in the left side of the box, whoe sent a cross all the way to the right side of the box where Randklev knicked the inner-left post for her second goal of the season.Â
Unfortunately, despite the higher rate of offense in the second half, the Vikings were held to just that one goal, falling 2-1.Â
