ROCK ISLAND, Ill. -- North Park baseball concluded its 2023 season in game two of the CCIW Tournament on Thursday afternoon, falling to top-seeded and nationally 17th-ranked Augustana College 13-5.
North Park was first to crack a zero on an Alex DiVito single through the left side of the infield in the first inning to score Reece Arakaki. North Park also added a pair of runs in the second inning on Jim Zay's RBI double and RBI groundout by Graham Porter.
However, extra-base hits from Augustana led to three-run innings in both the first and second, giving the Rock Island Vikings a 6-3 lead.Â
North Park got one back in the fourth on Justin Swanson's fielder's choice, but Augustana further extended their lead in the bottom of the inning, scoring four runs off of four hits, a walk, and an error.
This hill was too steep to climb for North Park, falling 13-5.
Quick Hits:
- Arakaki and Zay with multi-hit days, 2-for-4 and 2-for-3, respectively
- Swanson and Zay crack doubles
- Tyler Banks throws two innings of one-hit, scoreless relief
- Augie's Kanellakis was a perfect 5-for-5 with three doubles and four RBI
