Vikings Come up short in Weekend Tournament

MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- This weekend the North Park women's basketball team faced off against #8 Wartburg College and Wisconsin Lutheran College in the Paul F. Knueppel Classic hosted by Wisconsin Lutheran.  North Park suffered a pair of losses: 74-51 to Wartburg and 71-42 to Wisconsin Lutheran.

The first game of the weekend was played Friday against the 8th-ranked team in the nation, Wartburg College. The Vikings led after the first quarter with a score of 17-12. The Wartburg Knights turned it around and outscored the Vikings in the final three quarters of the game. The final score was North Park 51, Wartburg 74.  

Freshman guard Aliyah Hershberger puts a team leading 13 points in route to a new career high. She was followed by Victoria Perry and Hailey Lyczak with 11 and 9 respectfully.  

The Vikings tipped off against Wisconsin Lutheran on Saturday for their second game of the weekend. Victory Perry led the team in points with 13. Freshmen center Brooke Panush followed closely behind with 11 points in just 15 minutes of play. Panush was 4-4 from the field, 1-1 from the arch, and 2-2 on free throws. The final score of the match was North Park 42, Wisconsin Lutheran 71.  

Perry earned All-Tournament honors after totaling 24 points, four steals, a pair of blocked shots, and six boards.

What's Next? 

The Vikings travel to River Forest IL. to face off against Dominican University next Saturday, November 18 at 2:00 pm.
