STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The North Park women's volleyball team suffered a double sweep in a pair of ranked matches on Saturday. The Vikings fell to No. 2 UW-Oshkosh before an evening loss to No. 17 and tournament host UW-Stevens Point.
Against Oshkosh, the Vikings were held to a .131 hitting percentage in their 25-23, 25-14, 25-14 three-set loss. Senior setter Jenna Jones guided the Vikings to five aces, contributing three of her own. UWO's Robyn Kirsch and Riley Kindt led the attackers with 10 kills each while junior outside Adriana Rodriguez and freshman middle Meg Rothermel led the Vikings with eight each.
In the Stevens Point match, the Pointers outplayed the Vikings across the board. Most importantly, UWSP had five blocks to NPU's one, holding a normally potent Viking offense to an .089 hitting percentage and 31 kills. The Pointers' Ashley Kopp led the action with 11 kills while junior outside Shamyia Collier had eight kills for the Vikings.
Jenna Jones received All-Tournament honors for her two-match performance. She had four aces, 17 digs, and two kills against ranked competition.
What's Next?
Things don't lighten up for the Vikings (19-6, 6-0 CCIW) anytime soon, as they'll host a ranked tri-match this coming Friday, October 27. North Park will face No. 7 UW-Whitewater at 2:00 PM before a 7:00 PM match against No. 3 Hope later that evening.
