Box Score 2 WHEATON, Ill. – The North Park softball team opened conference play on Friday afternoon, dropping a 5-4 decision in eight innings against Wheaton College, before defeating the Thunder 3-2 in game two.
The first game was a back-and-forth affair that couldn't find a difference after seven innings. A sac fly from Alyssa Malicki put NPU up one, but Wheaton would take their first lead in the third, scoring four to go up four. Malicki added more RBIs to her total when she jacked her fifth home run of the year with Alyssa Aragon on to cut it to 4-3. Two innings later, Aragon again scored on a Feazelle single to even it at 4-4. A bases loaded walk-off single for Wheaton ended up winning them the game in the eighth by a score of 5-4.
Feazelle again scored runs on a single when she brought both Alyssas across in the first inning of game two. Wheaton scored two in the third to make it 2-2, before Malicki brought the game-winning run across when she forced the Thunder into an error that scored Caitlyn Webb. Feazelle picked up the win for North Park, pitching the complete game and only allowing five hits.
What's Next?
North Park (9-5, 1-1 CCIW) will be back home on Sunday, April 3rd when they host the Vikings of Augustana College (12-5). First pitch in the doubleheader will be at 1 PM at the Holmgren Athletic Complex.
