Robinson’s Record-Setting Night Nets Vikings the Win vs. Wittenberg

Seven aces for Robinson, a new record for NPU

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio -- Quinn Robinson had aces in spades in Tuesday night's matchup with Wittenberg, piling up 7 aces across just 4 sets as the Vikings beat the Tigers 3-1. The monstrous performance from the Junior outside hitter shatters the previous Vikings single-game record of 4 aces, which he matched earlier this season against Lakeland. As it stands, Robinson's 7 aces are the most by any player in the CCIW so far this season.

Joining in on the action with two clutch aces of his own was Emmanuel Eugene. With the 1st set tied at 25-25, Eugene fired off back-to-back serves that Wittenberg had no answer for. The crunch time effort gave the Vikings a 27-25 victory in what ended up as the closest set of the night.

The Vikings went on to dominate in sets 2 and 4, though Wittenberg did themselves no favors by racking up 27 errors across the night as a whole. Set 3 marked a role reversal for both sides. Wittenberg finished with their best hit percentage of the game while North Park recorded more errors than kills. Outside of that blemish, this game was handily in North Park's favor.

Robinson's historic performance sits a notch above the rest, but there was no shortness of big contributors in the win. Erik Bullard's 15 kills and 5 blocks both were match-highs for either team, and Noah Salazar too had a successful night up front with 8 kills of his own. Meanwhile, right-side hitter Vicente Cabrera took on a more defensive assignment than usual tonight with 10 digs—a career-high.

North Park keeps the ball rolling tomorrow night when they take on Wabash College for their 20th game of the season. The Vikings stand at 10-9 at the moment, and they'll fight for the chance to establish themselves above .500 at 6:00 P.M. CST in Crawfordsville, IN
