CHICAGO, Ill. – North Park women's basketball picked up their second win of the season on Tuesday night with an 84-48 rout of the Dominican Stars.
Despite the lopsided finish, the Vikings trailed for most of the first quarter. To start the second quarter, an and-one layup for Chantel Hairston and jumper in the paint by Aaliyah Parker-Fox gave NPU all the momentum they needed. It was off to the races after that, as the Vikings outscored the Stars 49-23 in the second half.
How it Happened
- North Park turned everything around in the second quarter, holding Domincan to just six points while totaling 18 of their own
- Vikings erupted for 29 points in the third quarter, powered by 16 points from Esther Miller
- 48 points in the paint and 22 fastbreak points for the Vikings
- NPU did not surrender a single fastbreak point to Dominican, holding the Stars to just eight second-chance points
- NPU tallies 25 free throws and utilizes 38 points from their bench
- Miller turned in a career performance with 30 points, adding five steals
- Hairston's eight steals in a game tie the second-most all timeÂ
- Victoria Perry swipes five passes and goes a perfect 6-for-6 from the charity stripe
- 20 points for Hairston is a new career high for her
- Hairston also pulled down 11 rebounds, nearly pulling off a triple-double
- 12 points for Perry, nine for Elisha Dunlap

North Park (2-1) makes the short drive to the University of Chicago for two games at the Midway Classic. The Vikings will take on host U-Chicago on Friday, Nov. 18, before facing Calvin on Saturday, Nov. 19.
