CHICAGO, Ill. – North Park women's basketball picked up their second win of the season on Tuesday night with an 84-48 rout of the Dominican Stars.

Despite the lopsided finish, the Vikings trailed for most of the first quarter. To start the second quarter, an and-one layup for Chantel Hairston and jumper in the paint by Aaliyah Parker-Fox gave NPU all the momentum they needed. It was off to the races after that, as the Vikings outscored the Stars 49-23 in the second half.

How it Happened

  • North Park turned everything around in the second quarter, holding Domincan to just six points while totaling 18 of their own
  • Vikings erupted for 29 points in the third quarter, powered by 16 points from Esther Miller
  • 48 points in the paint and 22 fastbreak points for the Vikings
  • NPU did not surrender a single fastbreak point to Dominican, holding the Stars to just eight second-chance points
  • NPU tallies 25 free throws and utilizes 38 points from their bench
  • Miller turned in a career performance with 30 points, adding five steals
  • Hairston's eight steals in a game tie the second-most all time
  • Victoria Perry swipes five passes and goes a perfect 6-for-6 from the charity stripe
  • 20 points for Hairston is a new career high for her
    • Hairston also pulled down 11 rebounds, nearly pulling off a triple-double
  • 12 points for Perry, nine for Elisha Dunlap
