ELMHURST, Ill. – With their second CCIW shutout of the season, the sixth-ranked North Park men's soccer team earned a three-goal win over Elmhurst University on Wednesday night.
North Park sent in a pair of back-to-back goals, beginning in the 12th minute, to take an early lead.
William de Carro drove a well-struck shot from 25 yards out that caromed off the Bluejay defense. Next, inside the box just a few yards from the goal, Willy Wickman chipped consecutive shots, the first saved but not held, eventually finding the lower right corner of the goal for the opening score.
Not long after, in the 14th minute, Angel Barriga gained possession near midfield and darted past two defenders before passing to Isak Flo. Flo controlled the ball with his right foot before arcing a shot over the sprawling Bluejay keeper to extend the North Park lead to two goals.
The Vikings scored their final goal of the game in the 70th minute when de Carro lasered a 30-yard shot into the left side of the goal.
